Weekend #1

So I was informed by mom that I had skipped a day in my blog.  Glad she's still there watching out for me although it seems I can't get rid of her, she'll be back in one week already :)  Saturday was a busy day and I found no time to write anything.  The day started with a 10 am loosening and stretching session with the team.  After a long week of two a days, it was nice to loosen up a bit.

After that we hosted the Alumni soccer game in the afternoon.  Despite some rain, it was a fun game.  I got in with about 25 minutes left to play and had our fourth goal.  I was happy to score since the team in general has been struggling in the attacking third so I'm hoping that will help with my playing time situation.  I realized I needed to just settle down and make sure not to make stupid mistakes and just play simply keeping the ball which I am adjusting to.  In general I was pleased with my play and had a good time.  Following the game we had a team and alumni tailgate with a ton of food.  It will be fun to have those after all of our other home games as well this season.

Later that night some of the soccer guys decided to go out in the city since it was our first free night of the week.  We took the metro a few stops and walked to Club Fur.  It was just a huge dance party and my ears were ringing for a long time after we left.  It was a good time and fun to hang with the guys some time out of practice.

Then today brought our first day off in a week.  I got to sleep in a bit and leisurely stroll to breakfast and eat as much as I wanted.  It was very enjoyable.  After that I caught up with my Orientation Advisor group (I haven't met any of them due to conflicts with soccer), but I found a solid group of friends and we went to the National Air and Space Museum.  We walked around for a while and the place was really cool but we didn't have enough time to see everything cause the place is HUGE.  We then walked over to Chinatown and went to a great Chinese restaurant for lunch.  We then spent a few hours just walking around the city and then took the Metro back to campus.  It's so awesome how much there is to do in the city and I'm excited to keep going out into it.

This evening I will spend getting ready for classes.  Yeah, I thought college was just supposed to be all fun.  Haha but yeah 9 am Monday class won't be that much fun. I'm still waiting for coach to send out the soccer schedule for the week so I can figure everything out.  This week I will get to see what college is actually all about.  Hopefully its as much fun as I've had this past week!

Signing off for the day,
