37 Second in Overtime

Yesterday we made the trip all the way up to Juniata for a very important conference match.  We were 2-1 in conference and they were 1-2.  Both teams were looking for a very crucial win.  It took a long 3.5 hours on the bus to get there.

We finally arrive and warm-up and I am again not in the starting line-up.  Of course I'm disappointed but then Coach Weische pulled me aside and told me that the only reason I'm not starting is because they want to possibly try me at other positions.  He said at practice Thursday I was the best one out there and I was bringing other guys up with my play.  So that was very encouraging and I went in the second half with about 25 minutes left at left mid and switched with like ten minutes left to play forward.  We got scored on first and scored back and then they scored and we responded again.  At half it was 2-2.  I started the second half at left mid and made some good runs/chances.  We scored and held the lead for a long time until with 7 minutes left they scored to tie it up.  We couldn't get it back so we headed to overtime.

I started at left mid for overtime as well.  We kicked it off, it came to the left side, I played it back, we switched it to the right where we crossed it and scored on a header to end the game with only 37 seconds passing by in OT.  It was a very important win for us especially after Wednesday's performance.

After the game I got to see cousin Lisa and Grandma Bernie who made the trip from Wilkes-Barre to come watch.  I didn't realize but it was also a long trip for them to make too.  I was very appreciate and happy to see them.  They brought cupcakes for the team with rings and halloween colored icing.  Then they also gave me a goodie bag with lots of food and a new Eagles blanket.  It was very nice of them.  Grandma looked great in the CUA soccer shirt cheering for the team.

We then made the long trip back to campus and that was the day.  A long trip for just one game but it was worth it since we got the win.  Only four more games now left in the regular season; each game is very important now.

Have a good Sunday,
